100th year of fun for Troy Turkey Trot

 It’s time for the Troy Turkey Trot taking place on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 24, at 8 a.m. This year is extra special because it’s the 100th anniversary of the annual event.

Registration is now open  for the four races and walks – 5K, 10K, Turkey Walk, and Grade School Mile; visit http://www.TroyTurkeyTrot.com/. Online registration closes on Monday, Nov. 21, at 11:59 p.m. Participants are encouraged to make a donation to the event’s two charities, the Regional Food Bank of Northeast New York and Joseph’s House & Shelter, a nonprofit that aims to prevent and alleviate homelessness.

Last chance to register is in person at the Troy Atrium on Wednesday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Participants can register for the Turkey Walk until 9:25 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning; there is no day-of registration for the 5K, 10K, or Grade School Mile.

The Troy Turkey Trot is featuring a costume contest where groups and individuals will be awarded prizes for Best Thanksgiving Day Costume and Most Unique Costume.  Prizes are a $100 gift certificate for first prize, $50 for second prize, and $25 for third prize. To download a costume contest entry form, visit http://www.TroyTurkeyTrot.com/annual-costume-contest/.

Packet pickup sessions will be held at the Troy Atrium (4 Third Street): Sunday, Nov. 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
Wednesday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Free parking for the event is available at numerous Front Street and River Street parking lots.

Post-race refreshments and entertainment will be offered in the finish line area in the City of Troy permit parking lot at the corner of 1st Street and River Street.Results of the race will be posted in Monument Square at the awards tent, and online.
