Archaeology tour at Schuyler Flatts park
State Museum archaeologists will hold a free open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday from the Schuyler Flatts Cultural Park, 595 Broadway, Menands.
The program will include a brief tour of the area, a demonstration of advanced technologies used to conduct and analyze excavation findings and a presentation of newly discovered artifacts.
The archaeologists are conducting excavations at the park to learn how the land was used in the 17th through the 19th centuries and how people of European, African and Native American descent left their mark on the land in the form of artifacts and building foundations.
