Duke Ellington events at Guilderland library

Guilderland Public Library presents “Duke Ellington: American Genius” on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m.
Ellington expert Bill Saxonis will survey three  ways the Ellington legacy prospers, featuring musical clips to accompany his lecture. The program was originally scheduled Jan. 13, but in anticipation of difficult travel due to weather forecasts, the  organizers opted to postpone Bill Saxonis’s talk about the influence of Duke Ellington in American music.
A companion concert, “In a Mellow Tone: A Tribute to Duke Ellington,” by The Sonny & Perley Trio, will be performed Sunday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m., also at the library on 2228 Western Ave., Guilderland. The all-Ellington concert will feature some of the musician’s most popular and beloved music.

To sign up, call 518-456-2400.
