Early gardeners topic of native plant society

The annual Catskill Native Plant Society winter lecture will be held Saturday, March 7, at 7 p.m.,  at the Marbletown Community Center, 3564 Main St., Stone Ridge.

Carol Woodin, exhibitions director for the American Society of Botanical Artists, will discuss America’s “founding gardeners,” John and William Bartram, their plant-gathering expeditions and their impact on botanical art. Visit http://www.bartramsgarden.org/.

Woodin, an accomplished botanical artist, holds a gold medal for her work from the Royal Horticultural Society.

An avid seeker of  orchids in their native habitats, Woodin resides in the Rondout Valley and has shared her plant knowledge on several Catskill Native Plant Society hikes.

Those attending can stay after the lecture to meet some plant enthusiasts. Visit http://catskillnativeplantsociety.org/winter-lecture-marbletown-community-center-march-7th-2015-7-p-m/
