Empire State Learning Academy fetes 25th
The Academy for Lifelong Learning at SUNY Empire State College will celebrate its 25th year with a “Celebrating Silver” Banquet from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Gideon Putnam Hotel, 24 Gideon Putnam Road, Saratoga Springs.
The group is designed for retired seniors to learn in a supportive environment. Members and friends past and present are invited. Cost is $30 and includes a sit-down lunch, entertainment, dancing, raffles and cash bar.
Academy Knitters have knitted almost 500 caps for cancer patients to be donated to Saratoga Hospital at the banquet. Personal care items are being collected for Economic Opportunity Council.

The Academy of Lifelong Learning, 2 Union Ave., Room 126, Saratoga Springs, is a nonprofit, member-driven organization providing non-credit academic classes, sponsored by SUNY Empire State College which allows A.L.L. to utilize office and class spaces at no cost.
Memberships are $60 per fiscal year, which runs July through June. Eight week classes are $50 and four week classes are $25.
There are two terms available per year, fall term begins in September and spring term begins in March. The student population consists of mostly 65- to 95-year-old seniors. Visit http://www.esc.edu/all/.
