Erie Canal author to discuss book

Author and historian Jack Kelly will discuss and sign his latest book, “Heaven’s Ditch: God, Gold and Murder on the Erie Canal” on Wednesday, July 19, 7 p.m.,  at Shaker Heritage Society,  25 Meeting House Road, Colonie.
The Erie Canal, which connected the Atlantic Ocean to the Midwest economically and  spiritually, is considered one of the most impressive engineering feats in American history. 
Kelly will discuss the canal, its exchange of ideas, the religious, suffrage and abolitionist movements which were bolstered by the connection, and  the exchange of ideas.
