Fort Plain events mark 1780 attack

A flag ceremony, wreath-laying at the Fort Plain Museum and a musket salute by the Tryon County Militia will take place starting at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at the museum, 389 Canal St., Fort Plain. The events will mark the 235th anniversary of the Canajoharie settlements being burned by Joseph Brant and Mohawk and Seneca warriors on Aug. 2, 1780.

Wayne Lenig, a museum trustee, will give a presentation about the raid. Free tours and light refreshments will be available.
