Guided tour of Amsterdam pedestrian bridge

Take a guided tour of the Mohawk Valley Overlook Pedestrian Bridge, 1 Bridge St., Amsterdam, on May 24, at 5 p.m.  Enjoy  the aesthetic qualities of the park-like bridge, view the artwork and learn about the history of Amsterdam from the Native Americans to the diversity of those who settled in various neighborhoods in the city.
Ann Thane,  mayor of Amsterdam when the bridge was being constructed, will lead the tour,  being organized by the Amsterdam-Gloversville-Johnstown branch of the American Association of University Women as part of its May meeting.
The group will have dinner and a business meeting at 6 p.m. at Parillo’s Armory Grill, 67 Bridge St., Amsterdam.
Those staying for dinner will order from the menu and pay on their own.
