Home Safety

We all want to age in our own home – in our own neighborhood.  This is our comfort area filled with memories, neighbors, a familiar setting and, most important, safety.

Yet, because we are human, accidents happen.  We do not plan on them or welcome them!  However, when this accident occurs, we need to get help immediately.  Often, a delay in medical attention complicates and compromises our recovery.

We have all seen the television ad, “Help! I’ve fallen and can’t get up!”  Don’t put yourself in that vulnerable position.  Look into a PERS:

P          Personal

E          Emergency

R         Response

S          System

The personal emergency response system enables you to receive help immediately.  This program eliminates helplessness and removes the fear of living alone.  In an emergency, time is critical.  The individual gets a prompt response – just by the push of a waterproof button.

Having PERS actually strengthens your independence in your home.

In addition, it can help you transition back home following back, hip or knee surgery.  We all know people recovering from surgery.  This recovery, naturally, takes time.  During this time, PERS can provide you with that extra protection “just in case ….”    There is no reason for you to be at risk

Accidents happen to everyone.  Having a PERS in the home reduces the risk of living alone and offers protection  24 hours a day, 365 days a year!   It provides confidence, safety and security for you and allows you to remain in your neighborhood with your friends.

Please, remain in your own home for as long as you can!

If you live in the one of the following counties, please call Eddy Lifeline at 518-833-1040 or email: Kathleen.Leonard2@sphp.com for information and to schedule an appointment: Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene.
