Hospice nurse offers care workshops
A series of seminars on hospice care, led by Suzanne B. O’Brien, will begin Saturday, June 7.
The hospice nurse’s first workshop titled “Doula: a bridge to end of life care” will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 181 Western Ave., Albany.
O’Brien said she developed the program to educate, support and inspire “community to take care of community” at end of life.
According to O’Brien, “Research shows nine out of ten terminally ill people want to be kept at home during their last days.
” The same research shows that the number one fear of the dying patient is becoming a burden to their family.”
Additional workshops will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. June 28 and 29 at the Holiday Inn, Wolf Road, Albany.
