Humor and caregiving talk at Beechwood
“When Seasons Change … and Roles Reverse,” a free program on parenting your parents, will be held Thursday, May 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Beechwood Senior Living, 2218 Burdett Ave., Troy.
Jim Comer, author, actor, comedian and son, will talk about the challenges many adult children face as their parents age. In 1996, at the height of his career, Comer quit his writing job and moved back to Texas after 30 years away to care for his 86-year-old father who had a massive stroke. His 84-year-old mother suffered from Alzheimer’s.
As the only surviving adult child, Comer transformed from a writer to an active caregiver. He will share his insights and experiences with heart and humor in hopes of helping empower other families navigating similar journeys.
Reservations are needed by Friday, May 5.
