Kayaking fundraiser benefits mesothelioma
The seventh annual Kayaking 4 Meso fundraising event will take place Sept. 9, beginning at Admiral’s Marina, State Route 32, Stillwater, and ending at the Halfmoon Lighthouse Park in Halfmoon. This will be approximately an eight-mile paddle, going through Lock 4, Lock 3, and Lock 2, approimately three and three and a half hours.
Money raised will be donated to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and raise awareness of mesothelioma, an asbestos-caused cancer.
Registration is $40; all who register in advance will receive a commemorative T-shirt to wear for the event
Festivities are 1 to 4 p.m. at Halfmoon Lighthouse Park, Halfmoon .
This is a one-way paddle. Participants who want their vehicles at the end of the paddle can take advantage of the morning shuttle bus, a 15-minute ride, .

Schedule of Events: Saturday, Sept. 9:
7:30 – 9:15 a.m.: Check-in and registration.
9:15 – 9:30 a.m.: Launching from Admiral’s Marina.
9:40 – 10 a.m.: Locking through Lock 4. (Approximately)
10:40 – 11 a.m.: Locking through Lock 3. (Approximately)
11:10 -11:20 a.m.: Quick photo shoot at Mechanicville Boat Dock.(Approximately)
11:55 – 12:15 a.m.: Locking through Lock 2. (Approximately)
1 – 1:15 p.m.: Arrive at Halfmoon Lighthouse Park. (Approximately)
1 – 4 p.m.: Festivities at Halfmoon Lighthouse Park. (food and refreshments available)
1:30 p.m.: Stay for group photo at the park.
This is a one-way paddle. If anyone wants their vehicle at the end of the paddle please take advantage of the morning shuttle bus.
Morning Shuttle Bus Schedule:
7:30 – 8:30 a.m.: Drop kayaks off at Admiral’s Marina.
Drive to Halfmoon Lighthouse Park to drop off your car.
Approximately a 15-minute ride. Plan accordingly.
7:30 – 8:45 a.m.: Park your vehicle at Halfmoon Park (all cars are to park in the field across the road from the park which you access from Brookwood Road). DO NOT ENTER OR PARK ON THE BLACKTOP AT CGM CONSTRUCTION. There is a separate entrance to park in the field.
The shuttle buses will be waiting at the park to bring you back to Admiral’s Marina.
Four bus runs are planned if necessary, between 8 and 8:45 a.m.
8 a.m. (sharp) First shuttle bus from Halfmoon Park to Admiral’s Marina.
8:45 a.m. (sharp) Last shuttle bus from Halfmoon Park to Admiral’s Marina.
Upstate Kayak Rentals will be renting kayaks from Admiral’s Marina. You must make a reservation. email@example.com/.
