There will be house tours offered at noon and 2 p.m.
The festival features a sale including books, Christmas items, antiques and fine things, plants and flower bouquets. Also for sale will be Stewarts Ice Cream, a 50/50 raffle, and refreshments. For information on the free event, call 456-3032.
The historic home, 2299 Western Turnpike, Guilderland, recognizable for its Gothic-style ornamentation, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its architectural significance. About 170 years ago, John Schoolcraft built his grandiose home in what was known as the hamlet of Guilderland. After the house fell into disrepair for many years, it was purchased in 1994 by the Town of Guilderland. The Guilderland Historical Society and Friends of the Schoolcraft Cultural Center are working to restore the home and its unique elegance. The group hopes the event will encourage people to join in helping with preservation efforts.
