‘Lost doughboys’ topic of historian talk

“Return Without Fail: The Lost Doughboys of Rensselaer County” will be the topic of a talk by Historian Peter Lindemann of Cobleskill at a meeting of the Pittstown Historical Society on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m., at the Pittstown Town Hall, 97 Tomhannock Road, Valley Falls.
After World War I, New York town historians were asked by the state historian to submit information of local wartime activities and photographs for a planned publication, but no funds were set aside and the publication was never produced, and photos, despite being marked “return without fail,” were never sent back to their owners.
On Nov. 16,  400 re-discovered photos, letters and stories stored in the State Archives will be shown.
Admission is free, refreshments will be served.
