Music and Pizza Series at Salem Art Works
The fifth annual “Music and Pizza” series presents David Schulman, a singer-songwriter with a rock ‘n’ roll guitar sound, on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Salem Art Works, 19 Cary Lane, Salem. Schulman is a singer/songwriter who picked up the guitar at age 13.
SAW hosts regional musicians for an intimate evening of performance and homemade brick-oven pizza and offers music, art, food and beer from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month through Oct. 3. Pizza and music start at 6 p.m.
This year, Argyle Brewery will serve its locally brewed beers.
Dates and performers include:
Sept. 5: Deena Chappell will perform bluegrass, rock ‘n’ roll, swing, folk and blues music; and
Oct. 4: Olivia Quillio from Troy will blend her influences in folk and jazz with pop accessibility.
Tickets will be donation of $12; $5, kids. Tickets will be available the day of event at the door.
Homemade pizza, including gluten-free and vegan pizzas, will be available, and local musicians will perform under an outdoor tent or in one of the barns. They will answer questions after the show.
Paired with each Music and Pizza event, SAW holds exhibition openings in the Cary House Gallery, pop-up shows of work by artists in residence and self-guided studio tours. SAW welcomes everyone to take self-guided tours on these evenings. Visit studios, meet current resident artists, regional musicians and discuss their artistic processes and thinking.
