Orson Welles film to screen in Albany
The restored 1965 Orson Welles film “Chimes at Midnight” will screen is Albany on Thursday, March 3, at the Madison Theater, Albany.
Because of a rights dispute, the film hasn’t screened in decades in the United States, where it already has been released in New York City and Los Angeles.
The event is co-hosted by the venue and the Capital Cinema Cultural Exchange, and will open with a cocktail mixer at 6 p.m. Ticket sales will be announced at a future date at http://www.themadisontheater.com.
The film was released on video in the United Kingdom last year after being restored by Janus Films and The Criterion Collection. It has previously been released in the U.S. on VHS.
