Paws in the Park helps homeless animals

Help homeless animals and have fun. Paws in the Park Walk and  Community Day will be held  rain or shine Saturday, June 21,  9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Siena College, Loudonville.

Schedule: 9 a.m., registration; 10 a.m., blessing of the animals; 10:30 a.m., 1 1/4-mile pet stroll, with or without pets, begins.

Canine grand marshal is Hudson the “railroad puppy” for the event which features a scenic pet stroll, live music by Grand Central Station, Empties for Animals recyclable can and  bottle drive, contests, vendors, food, fun and more. Team and individual prizes and top fundraising awards will be awarded.

Be sure to register the day of the walk. Pets compete in best summer costume; pet-parent look-alike; best trick; and musical sit. Each contest-winning canine will receive a  gift certificate to Benson’s Pet Center.

Dogs are welcome but not necessary to participate. Start a team, become a sponsor or vendor, or make a pledge. Proceeds support the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. Register at  pawswalk.mohawkhumane.org/.

Raise $30 and get an official 2014 Paws in the Park T-shirt. The more you raise, the more prizes to earn.
