‘Santa Claus Mysteries’ is lecture topic

A lecture, “The Santa Claus Mysteries: What We Still Don’t Know About Saint Nicholas, Sinterklaas and Santa Claus,” is part of the holiday events at the Albany County Historical Association’s Holiday House 2017 at the Ten Broeck Mansion, 9 Ten Broeck Place, Albany, on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. The discussion will be led by  Karl Felsen, as he explores the historical and cultural character surrounding the jolly old elf. Tickets are $5, free for ACHA members.

Other events include:

Candlelight Tours on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m.,  and Friday, Dec. 15, at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Journey through the history of the American Christmas and enjoy Mansion candlelight. Cost is $15, $10 for ACHA members. Reservations are encouraged. 

On Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon, a Children’s Story Hour will offer holiday stories read by Sinterklas and photo opportunities. Event is free. Recommended ages: 3 to 10. 

Also on Dec. 16, 1 p.m., the Helderberg Madrigals will perform holiday songs. Enjoy coffee, desserts and a stroll through mansion rooms and hallways. Adnission is $25, $20 for ACHA members. Reservations are encouraged.
