Solo exhibit opens at Omi art center

Visitors can roam Omi International Arts Center  grounds, with its 300-acre sculpture park,  by ski or snowshoe but there is also an indoor exhibition space where a new show opens on Jan. 16, featuring work by Anne Lindberg, an artist who works across multiple media.

An opening reception is planned Saturday, Jan. 16, 1 to 3 p.m., located in Omi’s Visitors Center & Gallery. This solo exhibition will conclude on March 12 at 7 p.m. with a special performance event featuring “hyperpianist” Denman Maroney.
Lindberg’s exhibition, “Fold and Unfold” will feature her new series, “Building Drawings,” which will blend drawing, sculpture, textiles and conceptual art in room-sized installations. Her focus is on expanding the definition of drawing, employing thread and staples as well as the more traditional graphite to explore the language of drawing. Her “thread drawings” are basically drawings in air, created by thread stretched from surface to surface, projecting into the space the viewer occupies. Free. Omi International Arts Center is located at 1405 County Route 22, Ghent. Call 392-4747 or visit http://www.artomi.org/.
