Study fossils and forbearers at Thacher Park

”Fossils of Thacher Park: Who were they and what do they tell us?” will be discussed Sunday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at Thacher State Park.

Fossils can be found in most of the rocks in Thacher Park. They tell who lived here long before dinosaurs roamed the Earth.  They show that the region was flooded by shallow seas, creating  tidal flats, a surf zone, big waves, or  deeper, calmer waters?

Geologist Chuck Ver Straeten will guide you on this exploration.

Registration is required; call 872-0800  for meeting place and to register.

The event is part of the park’s centennial series, “Exploring Thacher Park.”
