Sunday stroll explores Saratoga’s ‘Gut’

The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation’s 2014 Summer Sunday Strolling Tours presents “Down in the Valley: Exploring ‘The Gut’ ” on Sunday, Aug. 17, at 10:30 a.m. in Saratoga Springs. The 90-minute tour will met at the southeast corner of Phila and Putnam streets near Ben & Jerry’s.

Ellen Steinberger will lead the exploration of the area known as the “Valley” or “Gut,” a low-lying area east of Broadway that included hotels, boardinghouses, groceries, delis, diners and restaurants and was a largely working class section.
