Visit Butterfly House exhibit at miSci
Discover hundreds of brilliantly colored native delights at the temporary resident butterfly house on display through April 19, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m., at the Museum of Innovation and Science, 15 Nott Terrace Heights, Schenectady.
After paying museum admission, ($6.50-$9.50), start your learning adventure at the greenhouse just inside the entrance, where you’ll find the butterflies in their recreated habitat, plus museum guides to answer all of your butterfly-related questions.
See if you can spot all of these fascinating varieties flying about (and possibly landing on you!):
Be sure to stop at the chrysalis learning center to see the butterflies as they emerge. Learn about the exciting life cycles of the butterflies, and discover how to create butterfly-friendly environments in your back yard, too.
Because butterflies need a warm, humid environment to regulate body temperature, you can expect the butterfly house to be very warm in contrast with the cool museum, so dress in layers.
